Yoga
I began practicing yoga when I was 15 years old at a local gym in my hometown of Sydney, Australia. At the time, I was balancing being a model and a high school student. Yoga helped me consistently stay grounded. When I moved to Los Angeles, I was introduced to Bryan Kest Power Yoga and met my husband Govind Das. During that time, though there were many great things happening in my life, I was struggling with myself acceptance and loving myself. I knew that I needed to work on myself and learn to love myself from the inside out. With my husband‘s guidance, I trained to be a yoga teacher and began teaching at Power Yoga, private lessons, and teaching at Sony Pictures Entertainment for over 10 years.
In 2009, my husband and I opened Bhakti Yoga Shala in Santa Monica, California. Our intention was to have the teachings of Bhakti – love and devotion- be the foundation of all our offerings. We had the honor of hosting many well-known yogis and musicians, from Krishna Das to Shiva Rea, Jai Uttal Shyam Das, and many more. In 2020, we elected to shift from a traditional physical studio format into an online studio as our community found its way through the pandemic. Today, many of our classes are taught online and we also offer weekly outdoor classes on a beautiful deck in Topanga canyon amongst the gum trees.
I currently teach privately and yoga is a huge part of my daily practice and sadhana. I will always be grateful to all the teachers that have walked the path before me that have continue to shown me the way; my husband, Neem Karoli Baba, Ram Das, Jai Uttal, Shiva Rea, Krishna Das, Bryan Kest, Elena Brower, and many others.
